Net Zero Investor Coalition Hits Pause After BlackRock Exit

Posted on 14 January 2025

The Net Zero Investor Coalition has paused activity after BlackRock's exit, perhaps not a huge surprise following the recent exodus and hopefully a good time to reflect and reposition to ensure continued impact.

A large number of businesses seem to be blaming a lack of technological advancement on their inability to hit their net zero targets, having perhaps banked on others to deliver their results, equally many businesses are now talking about their investments in decarbonisation rather than their failure to hit targets.

Maybe SBTi, Scope 3 and / or GHG Protocol need to be amended to ensure they are suitable to deliver the desired results?
