The UK has today closed it's last coal power station, becoming the first G7 nation to entirely remove coal from it's energy production. Seeing as the UK was the birthplace of coal power there is a certain symmetry to the fact the UK is the first major economy to give it up and it signifies a notable step in the move to a more sustainable economy and hitting the UK's climate change targets.
